The NHL has canceled the 2013 Winter Classic.

The game was scheduled to feature the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan

In addition, the Hockeytown Winter Festival scheduled to take place at Comerica Park in Detroit has also been canceled. However, all games that were schedule to take place at Comerica have been moved to an indoor venue.

The AHL game between the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Toronto Marlies will now be played December 29 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

The Great Lakes Invitational will move to Joe Louis Arena. Michigan State will play Western Michigan at 3:30 PM December 29, followed by Michigan Tech vs. Michigan at 7:00 PM. The consolation game will be at 3:30 December 30, with the championship game following at 7:00 PM.

As for the OHL games, both will be played December 29, but will be played in Saginaw, Michigan and Plymouth, Michigan.

Fans can still get a full refund for their tickets. Griffins' ticket holders have until November 25 to claim their tickets for the rescheduled game. GLI ticketholders can get a refund at Comerica Park. Those who plan on going to the GLI at Joe Louis Arena will have to buy tickets at the Joe Louis Arena box office or online.

High school teams that were scheduled to play at Comerica Park were being called to see if they wanted to play at the Joe.

The NHL did confirm that the 2014 Winter Classic will feature the same lineup at the same location. However, it still stings for fans who were hoping to see a historic event.
