Since rookie goaltender Petr Mrazek was called up from the ECHL, he has yet to lose a game for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Mrazek was on his game again today, making 24 saves as the Griffins defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 4-2 for a third consecutive win.
The Griffins got on the board first at 13:54 in the first courtesy of Riley Sheahan scoring a shorthanded goal. The goal was Sheahan's first of the year.
Milwaukee answered at 15:56 with a 5-on-3 power play goal from Jonathon Blum.
In the second period, Griffins' defenseman Brendan Smith was robbed on a breakaway by Admirals' netminder Jeremy Smith. Seconds later, at 6:15, Francis Pare scored his fourth goal of the year by redirecting a slap shot from the point by Chad Billins to make it 2-1.
The Admirals tied it back up at 12:38 when Jusso Puustinen deflected a shot from Jack MacLellan past Mrazek.
The Griffins will play their next game at home Friday night against the Rockford Ice Hogs. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
NOTES: Billins' three assists gave him 11 on the season, tying him for the AHL lead. He has four multi-point games in his first 11 professional games…Nyquist also had an assist on the Andersson goal in addition to his empty net goal, giving him 13 points on the season, which tied him for second in the AHL in scoring…Mrazek is third in the AHL in both GAA (1.30) and save percentage (0.954)…The Griffins debuted an alternate red sweater which will be worn for Wednesday games.
