Brian Lashoff's shot at 2:49 of overtime proved to be the difference as the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Chicago Wolves Saturday.
Tomas Tatar skated into the Chicago zone and drew multiple defenders before passing to Adam Almquist at the point. Almquist then dished the puck to Lashoff who fired a shot past Chicago netminder Matt Climie for his second goal of the season.
The game was another goaltender duel between Climie and Tom McCollum, as both men kept the game scoreless for the first 40 minutes. It wasn't until 2:43 of the third that Chicago got on the board after Darren Archibauld tipped a shot from Kevin Connauton past McCollum.
Grand Rapids answered at 12:26 on a power play goal from Landon Ferraro.
McCollum finished with 31 saves, and improved to 3-0 against the Wolves with a 0.98 GAA and a .964 save percentage.
The Griffins will head into the Christmas break in first place in the Midwest Division. They will resume play December 28 with a Friday-Saturday set against the Toronto Marlies at home. Puck drop for both games is set for 7 p.m.
