While the wait continues for the NHL and NHLPA to reach an agreement, players from the Detroit Red Wings will head out west to work out.

A group of players, led by Danny Cleary, will leave Sunday for Arizona to try and get ready for what could be the start of training camp.

"Me, Horc, Howie, Kroner and maybe Ericsson and Monster are going," Cleary said to The Detroit News.

Translating from Cleary's player-speak; Shawn Horcoff of the Edmonton Oilers, Jimmy Howard, Niklas Kronwall, Jonathan Ericsson, and Jonas Gustavsson will be among a group of NHL players in Arizona.

"Our goal is to get a good week of five-on-five games, with maybe a referee, focusing on the little things: stopping and starting, the attention to detail, the defensive side of the game, a little bit. And, if things go well, it'll make sure you're ready." Cleary said.

The Red Wings will return January 12 for what they hope will be the start of training camp.

Cleary said that if a new CBA is reached before that day, they will "just jump on a plane and come back."
