For the first time since September, the Detroit Red Wings were back on their home ice Thursday.

It was the first time since the lockout began that they were able to skate at Joe Louis Arena. The Joe was being used by Ford Motor Company while the team was in training camp in Plymouth, MI. It also marked the first time that the entire team practiced on home ice since April 19, 2012, the day before they were eliminated from the playoffs by Nashville.

INJURY UPDATE: Forward Mikael Samuelsson was back on the ice for the first time since Sunday. He had missed the last three days with a groin injury, and said he plans to play Saturday night in St. Louis.

Darren Helm remains out with a back injury, and head coach Mike Babcok says Helm will not play Saturday.

Defenseman Jakub Kindl sat out practice with a groin injury, and is listed as day-to-day.
