The Detroit Red Wings have signed free agent defenseman Kent Huskins to a one-year, one way deal. The signing was first reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie.

Huskins, 33, has spent his career with the Blues, Sharks, and Ducks. He was a member of the Ducks team that won a Stanley Cup in 2007. He tallied two goals and five assists in 25 games with the Blues last season. He has 13 goals and 54 assists in his six-year career.

The Red Wings have become depleted on the blue line. Jonathan Ericsson is out with a sore shoulder, and Jakub Kindl is out with a groin injury. Both are expected to return to action Friday. Carlo Colaiacovo will be out for a few weeks after injuring his shoulder in last night's win over the Blue Jackets.

Brian Lashoff, who was called up from Grand Rapids, will remain with the Red Wings for now.
